While the (older two) kids are away. . .

How is it that the minutae of life can bring so much satisfaction?
In the past 2 days I have cleaned by dishwasher (why is that necessary?), my microwave, my sink, my oven and drumroll please. . . . my refrigerator. Oh my, I keep catching myself opening all of the doors to look inside. Earlier I caught myself staring at my reflection on the oven door. I'll just come out and say it- A clean kitchen is sexy!
mama like.

postscript: You might wonder, where are the older 2 kids? I honestly can't remember.

Zoo days: a reflection

I remember my first trip to the zoo with Robert, before he could walk. I sat under a tree and fed him realizing that the zoo was probably a big part of my future. I held him close on the train and tried to take a picture of us together. He doesn't cuddle with me on the train anymore. And he is the one snapping photos now. The following 3 photos are his:

My little boy now climbs rock walls.

CC's 1st official carousel ride.

Esther poses.

The zoo. What can I say? It is a part of the Burlington Atlanta childhood experience. Speaking of which, I better go send in our membership renewal. . . . bye!

A weekend in Maine

We spent last weekend VACATIONING in Maine. Actually, we flew there to attend a funeral. This trip truly felt like a vacation. I'll tell you why. We brought only one child with us- Robert. He loved Gram Fiske and we felt it would be good for him to go to the funeral too.
The Burlington cottage.
We finally got to meet my new nephew, Laurence. I couldn't get enough of his sweet baby smell. Robert never left his side.
Rob got a turn too.
One morning I let Nonnie touch him. :)
The funeral took place at the beautiful First Parish Church in York, Maine. I have always loved visiting cemeteries and this is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

Here is a shot of Rebecca at the graveside running to meet up with Robert.
Her feet aren't touching the ground!

Now Gram Fiske is beside Pop Fiske.
Megan and JP: getting married in July!
Cousins.
Grampy, Nonnie and Robert.
A proud handsome daddy!
Relaxing on the cottage porch.
Front porch nail salon.
I especially love this photo of the new parents, Stephie and Larry.
Dan Remick and Laurence.

A Memorial Day Dance (?)

Gloria and Scott hosted a yummy dinner at their house on Memorial Day. We played bocce ball, ate, talked, drank and DANCED with Scott's parents, Milton and Kathy, my parents, all the kids, Gloria and Scott (of course) and Gustavo, Werner and Dylan. Somehow this was the only thing I captured from our evening.

Esther and CC entertained us.

Then the extraordinarily good-sported Grandmas joined in.

Thanks Glo and Scott for a wonderful night!
